Ar-Rum(30):21
And of His signs is this : He created for you helpmeets from yourselves that ye might find rest in them , and He ordained between you love and mercy . Lo , herein indeed are portents for folk who reflect .

I wrote this as an effort to understand what marriage is in Islamic point of view, while I am a Moslem after all, and since many people in my life seems to have concern on this. Beside those, it is my objective to search for a better understanding again and again, it is proven and I believe that God had sent His words for us to look, in fact He sent us a very beautiful understanding on many things which too bad lot of Moslems (including me) doesn’t have the will to grab those understanding.
Quoted from http://www.soundvision.com/Info/marriage/inislam.asp
“The objective and the goal of marriage in Islam according to the above Quranic verse is to enable us to dwell in peace and tranquility. It is important for us to reflect on these words and their significance in the Islamic frame of reference. “
While tranquility (adv.) means free from disturbance; calm. So in essence, these are the goal of marriage, to achieve a condition where I am sure is good for most of us. The fact is not so far away from my understanding about marriage, while I want to see it through a more tangible way, a marriage logically is where you could face a worse condition together, together means stronger, and our road to peace and tranquility is in a better shape. Of course this is achievable if several conditions are met.
After all, also comes from above verse, my understanding is it state the equality, and nature interdependent of man and woman this is from the analogy said by Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings be upon him), “men and women are twin halves of each other” (Bukhari). This Hadith also brings home the fact that men and women are created from single source.
That is why we want to get married :D and how do I look at a marriage? Marriage for us is a holy statement consist of promises to handle life together in front of God, so actually in my humble opinion marriage includes Man and Woman who love each other and their God. While in society, marriage has become more like an institution, aside from law that comes from God through Religion there also laws that come from the government. This fact is understandable, since marriage as a union of two different individual, I agree, must be ruled. But sometimes, it went away from the religion it self?, not a surprising condition this is, since God words are all the time must be understand solely by an individual. This will brought another discussion at hand, but for now, I guess that is it. I will, however, want to write more about how Islam handles marriage for two individual which have a different religion (but some how I think is the same faith?).
